Description

Few entrepreneurs can claim to have radically changed the way we live, and Ray Kroc is one of them. His revolutions in food-service automation, franchising, shared national training, and advertising have earned him a place beside the men and women who have founded not only businesses, but entire empires. But even more interesting than Ray Kroc the business man is Ray Kroc the man. Not your typical self-made tycoon, Kroc was fifty-two years old when he opened his first franchise.

In Grinding It Out, you'll meet the man behind McDonald's, one of the largest fast-food corporations in the world with over 32,000 stores around the globe.

An irrepressible enthusiast, intuitive people person, and born storyteller, Kroc will fascinate and inspire you.

  • McDonald's is an impossible-to-miss powerhouse in the world of franchise, and was just named #1 on Entrepreneur's 2018 Franchise 500. But how was it set up for success? "Grinding It Out" is the story by and about founder Ray Kroc (as well as the inspiration for the feature film on the same man, "The Founder"). It's full of great history, as well as a major, critical takeaway: Embrace change, or wither away.

A quick fascinating book about Ray Kroc, the man you made McDonalds.Sadly it was written in 1977 with and afterward of 1984, so it is a little dated. It is however a great look into what drove ever aspect of the McDonald's experience.

This is a first class, founder narrated, pov story of one of the worlds greatest brands. You'll see that the voice in the story is honest, direct, and personal. Ray Kroc talks about his struggles, journey and joys of building the Big Mac. Like any founder narrative it is skewed. But, it also is the quintessential story of American entrepreneur and free Enterprise there is. Ray is an inspiring story teller, who isn't afraid to call a spade by it's name. There are lots of lessons of perseverance, courage, mistakes and risks in this story.

The biggest joke Ray Kroc plays on this book is the subtitle he uses "Grinding it out". You'll see that if you love the work and life you live, like Ray did, it seems like a joyous ride and a life of adventure.

My final takeaway from this book is "Never stop dreaming and don't be afraid to dream big."
