Editor's Note

Cultural fire…

Equipped with only a bow and a heart of gold, Katniss Everdeen caught cultural fire, igniting the rebel in us all. A brilliant, action-packed social commentary on media manipulation that defines the dystopian YA genre.

Description

Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany narrates a special edition recording of the first audiobook in the worldwide best-selling trilogy from Suzanne Collins!

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before — and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

This special edition audiobook includes a bonus track Q&A with Tatiana Maslany!

Critic reviews

  • It's hard to capture the deep, lasting impact Katniss Everdeen left on me, our society as a whole, and the young adult genre generally. The "Hunger Games" series is highly political, yet bridges our real-world political divides with grace. Well worth multiple re-readings.

  • Katniss Everdeen is my everything. Seriously, I wish she had existed when I was 12 years old (the first book didn't come out until I was 18). But I'm grateful that she, in her many roles (not at all defined by gender), exists for generations to come.

Ella es increíble, realmente disfrute escucharla, las variaciones de su voz, el humor que era latente en cada oración, frase y conversación, simplemente increíble

I love that its a book about a young girl that doesn't let anyone define who she is and makes her own choices even when they are difficult these book grabs your attention from the very beginning.

Lots of action and humor in this book. Great for teens to read. Has some romance in it that most of the readers (I yelled at that part because I new it would happen) new would come. There is a sad but sweet part in chapter 18 that made me cry.

Loved the narration by the amazing Tatiana Maslany and of course, just the experience of re-reading this poignant story.
