Description

Emmy Award-winning gadfly Mike Rowe presents a ridiculously entertaining, seriously fascinating collection of his favorite episodes from America’s number-one short-form podcast, The Way I Heard It, along with a host of memories, ruminations, and insights. It’s a delightful collection of mysteries. A mosaic. A memoir. A charming, surprising must-have.

Mike Rowe’s The Way I Heard It collects 35 fascinating stories “for the curious mind with a short attention span”. Five-minute mysteries about people you know, filled with facts that you didn’t. Movie stars, presidents, Nazis, rank traitors, and bloody do-gooders — they’re all here, waiting to shake your hand, hoping you’ll remember them. Delivered with Mike’s signature blend of charm, wit, and ingenuity, their stories are part of a larger mosaic — a memoir crammed with recollections, insights, and intimate, behind-the-scenes moments drawn from Mike’s remarkable life and career.

If you’ve listened to his podcast, it isn’t much different. Fun, interesting, and a bit investigative. Loved it!

Simple... you can Never go wrong with Mike Rowe, Excellent!

A collection of short stories from Mike Rowe’s life, or as he heard it in third person. A mix of historical tales and with a little splash of autobiography, narrated by Mike himself with his whiskey golden voice.

I had a great time listening to this at my own pace on my commute to work to pass time time. I am almost 24 years old, but I know these stories will have great replay/rereading value as I get older and my values change.

I really enjoyed the stories of famous people and Mike too! However, I was listening with my parents and there were a few awkward moments.

Excellent, very enjoyable. Short chapters that give you poignancy, humor & little known facts. Mike's s self deprecating humor will leave you laughing out loud. He's a great story teller & a quick wit. Loved it!

I’ve missed the voice of Paul Harvey like no other in the past decade and still recall so many of his Rest of the Story accounts. A visit with Mike Rowe is as close as can be with the morning commutes with Mr. Harvey, and I’ve enjoyed his tales in these times. Mr. Rowe’s sense of humor is fantastic, and I’ve recommended his book several times even before I could finish it.

Anything Mike Rowe does is worth your time. Part biography part storytelling, hands down amazing.

Great book, very entertaining but also very educational. Very sad the book ended wanted to keep listening to the stories. Felt like sitting and listening to my grandpa tell stories.

Easy listen. Humorous (as expected). Rowe does an excellent job reading his own material for audio. Sometimes it's nice to listen to something this uncomplicated without a bunch of characters to keep track of.... Recommended.

This is a very good audiobook narrated by the author who is a professional radio and TV voiceover artist is about 35 interesting stories kind of reminiscent of the late radio commentator Paul Harvey and his feature called the rest of the story enjoyable reading or listening I should say
