Description

What would happen if a shy introvert lived like a gregarious extrovert for one year? If she knowingly and willingly put herself in perilous social situations that she'd normally avoid at all costs?

Writer Jessica Pan intends to find out. With the help of various extrovert mentors, Jessica sets up a series of personal challenges (talk to strangers, perform stand-up comedy, host a dinner party, travel alone, make friends on the road, and much, much worse) to explore whether living like an extrovert can teach her lessons that might improve the quality of her life.

Chronicling the author's hilarious and painful year of misadventures, this audiobook explores what happens when one introvert fights her natural tendencies, takes the plunge, and tries (and sometimes fails) to be a little bit braver.

Interesting read for introverts who don't say yes often and find themselves being recluses.

Enjoyable listen that inspired me to get outside my comfort zone. Not especially memorable or life changing in my opinion, but fun to listen to

Very inspiring book for the fellow shintroverts. I really loved it

This was such a fun and relatable read. As an introvert I’ve found myself in most of those situations and trying and sometimes failing to extrovert. After reading this I actually feel inspired to try new things just for the sake of experimenting a bigger life. If you’re an extrovert you’ll get an accurate sense of what a day in the life of an introvert is like.

So much fun. I just reached the end, and for some reason, I’m almost teary! It was exciting going on this adventure with Jess, hearing about her trying new things, facing her fears, and doing improv classes. It has inspired me to try to incorporate some of this into my own life. Also, the writing style was so personable; she sounds like a friend.

On the list of one of my favorites! I am an introvert, usually considered an out-going introvert, but I related to Jessica on so many levels. I loved the audio book and she made me laugh out loud several times. I'm not ready to try improv, but this is an excellent memoir.

This book was so unexpected and perfect. Unlike other “I did this for a year” type books she shared her research and hilarious stories. Every chapter was great and I started to put into practice in my own life. Listening to this read by the author was the best!

Funny and relatable. Easy read, an interesting take on what it’s like to be an introvert and the flexibility of our personalities.

I found this book really interesting at first and then it got a little long and I was wishing that it would end already lol. I was getting kind of sick of the stories. but I did find it very interesting how much the author put herself out there and what she learned in the end and how she became a version of herself that she liked better

I liked the book ok but felt it went really slow. Had to listen on 1.2 speed. Overall I was encouraged to be brave and do the next hard thing.
