About this audiobook

A bride’s dream honeymoon becomes a nightmare when a man with whom she’s had a regrettable one-night stand shows up in this electrifying psychological thriller from the acclaimed author of Eight Perfect Murders.

Abigail Baskin never thought she’d fall in love with a millionaire. Then she met Bruce Lamb. He’s a good guy, stable, level-headed, kind—a refreshing twist from her previous relationships.

But right before the wedding, Abigail has a drunken one-night stand on her bachelorette weekend. She puts the incident—and the sexy guy who wouldn’t give her his real name—out of her mind, and now believes she wants to be with Bruce for the rest of her life.

Then the mysterious stranger suddenly appears—and Abigail’s future life and happiness are turned upside down. He insists that their passionate night was the beginning of something much, much more. Something special. Something real—and he’s tracked her down to prove it.

Does she tell Bruce and ruin their idyllic honeymoon—and possibly their marriage? Or should she handle this psychopathic stalker on her own? To make the situation worse, strange things begin to happen. She sees a terrified woman in the night shadows, and no one at the resort seems to believe anything is amiss… including her perfect new husband.

I thought this was an enjoyable thriller but a little predictable. Even though I did guess parts of the big twist I still really liked it. It made me wonder at times if Abigail was just being paranoid due to her infidelity or if something strange was actually going on. I would have rated this higher but I felt like the conclusion after the climax left me with some questions that weren’t answered, I kind of wish there had been a little bit more.

I liked the concept of the plot and was intrigued enough to keep reading, however, there were things in the book that I felt were very unnecessary and I did not need them in the book in order to think it was a good story.
Other than that, I enjoyed the thriller parts of the book. Also, there are trigger warnings so be sure to take a look at those prior to reading.

Very predictable. I kept waiting for a big twist that never came ? It would probably be good for someone who hasn't read the genre to death though.

Absolutely loved this book. I didn’t think I’d like it from the start but I’m so glad I continued to listen. The narrator was great and the book got better and better. I don’t read a lot of suspense or thrillers. After this book, I’m certainly gonna read more. Highly recommend!

This one definitely got better as it went on. At first, I couldn’t get used to the narrator. There were moments she was excellent and others, like when doing the voices of men, I couldn’t get used to. However, once I did get used to it, I devoured the book quickly. An easy kind of read good for listening in the car! Pretty faced paced toward the end. There of course were moments that I thought seemed far fetched and silly but that’s not a terrible thing for an easy, thriller type of read.

Who needed this book to be published? Really enjoyed a previous book by the author, but after this supremely offputting read I doubt I’ll be revisiting this author. Another commenter noted that this book seemed like misogyny dressed as feminism, and that about sums it up. Regret deciding to finish it.

Talk about a book waiting until the last two chapters to pick up the action. I really wanted to believe that the ending is possible. But ignoring the reality bit - it was a good book. Slow paced for the most of it, but good ending.

This story went exactly how I thought it would go, so the twist wasn’t a surprise for me, but I ready 3-5 mysteries a week so I am hard to fool. However, I liked the premise and the writing was engaging and well planned. Overall, I would recommend!
