Editor's Note

An essential primer…

As hard as it is to imagine, the Covid-19 pandemic will one day come to an end (we hope), but what can we learn from this experience? Diving into this question, Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN’s long-running news program “GPS,” compiles 10 fascinating lessons about how the world has suddenly changed in the wake of this crisis. From the ramping up of “digital life” to the study of other potential biological dangers, this is a critical primer on the new world we suddenly find ourselves in.

Description

COVID-19 is speeding up history, but how? What is the shape of the world to come?

Lenin once said, “There are decades when nothing happens and weeks when decades happen.” This is one of those times when history has sped up. CNN host and bestselling author Fareed Zakaria helps listeners to understand the nature of a post-pandemic world: the political, social, technological, and economic impacts that may take years to unfold.

In the form of ten straightforward “lessons,” covering topics from globalization and threat-preparedness to inequality and technological advancement, Zakaria creates a structure for listeners to begin thinking beyond the immediate impacts of COVID-19. Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World speaks to past, present, and future, and, while urgent and timely, is sure to become an enduring staple.

An excelente book, written with deep analysis and understanding of the economy and history that predates the Covid 19 pandemic. And reminds us how we have learned, survived and failed in previous pandemics so we can make a difference this time around.
