"A spellbinding story about what may transpire when the natural world collides with a legacy of witchcraft."
—Sarah Penner, New York Times bestselling author of The Lost Apothecary
"Narrators Aysha Kala, Helen Keeley, and Nell Barlow are a magical, moving trio. Their emotional and expressive performance of the parallel narratives ranges from touching and timid to tense and twisting."- Library Journal
I am a Weyward, and wild inside.
2019: Under cover of darkness, Kate flees London for ramshackle Weyward Cottage, inherited from a great aunt she barely remembers. With its tumbling ivy and overgrown garden, the cottage is worlds away from the abusive partner who tormented Kate. But she begins to suspect that her great aunt had a secret. One that lurks in the bones of the cottage, hidden ever since the witch-hunts of the 17th century.
1619: Altha is awaiting trial for the murder of a local farmer who was stampeded to death by his herd. As a girl, Altha’s mother taught her their magic, a kind not rooted in spell casting but in a deep knowledge of the natural world. But unusual women have always been deemed dangerous, and as the evidence for witchcraft is set out against Altha, she knows it will take all of her powers to maintain her freedom.
1942: As World War II rages, Violet is trapped in her family's grand, crumbling estate. Straitjacketed by societal convention, she longs for the robust education her brother receives––and for her mother, long deceased, who was rumored to have gone mad before her death. The only traces Violet has of her are a locket bearing the initial W and the word weyward scratched into the baseboard of her bedroom.
Weaving together the stories of three extraordinary women across five centuries, Emilia Hart's Weyward is an enthralling novel of female resilience and the transformative power of the natural world.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The plot twist! Looooooved the readers. And each story …. This is a book I couldn’t wait to get back to. There are no slow parts. An excellent read!!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved how the 3 women's connection came to light and how they survived abusive men. A bit of a fantasy about nature's role but overall this book kept me interested to the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely wonderful story that touched my heart. The characters were charming and full of life and the ending was so satisfying!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is one of the best books I’ve read this year. The author has done such a fantastic job telling the story of three women related through time. I love this story and all women, especially those who have been in trouble relationships with dominating men, should read it. It will make you feel better and give you courage.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This isn't the type of story I usually listen. To, but it was truly a great book. The story of these women and their struggles all being similar and yet different show the true strength of women throughout the ages. It isn't fantastical like so many witch books, and yes still just as intriguing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So beautifully narrated it was easy to get lost in the wonder of the women portrayed as the main characters. Highly recommend!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the book I would have needed in my twenties.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Although this book is full of sad and terrible moments, I think it's a beautiful story of the strength of women and the connection they have to nature and to each other. It reminded me a little of Practical Magic, but much darker. We see women being oppressed and abused by men who are afraid of their power and want to control and dominate them. But we also see women supporting each other. We see the unconditional love of friendship between women, and we see women passing down courage and strength through generations.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Beautifully written. Wonderful character development. The story stays with me!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Beautiful story about the power of women and the fear that men have carried throughout history.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A perfect October Read! The story of the powerful connection of the Wayward women passed down from several generations! Loved it!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The tone suits the setting and plot. It’s gothic. In a sequel, I’d like a very kind man to help with a woman’s progression to happiness. The connection between women is powerful, as is any stinging bee, male or female.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! Just wow!! I love books that have anything to do with the witch hysteria in the 1600s. And I love how these 3 womens' lives r so similar and so connected generations apart. Amazing writing and weaving the 3 stories together
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Three generations of women living in England, one from the early 1600s, another from WWII-era, and the last from the present, are confronting their innate power in the face of patriarchal systems that seek to suppress them. From witch trials to reproductive health laws, parallels can be made throughout history on how men seek to control female bodies. The three women we meet are each fully realized with compelling stories that kept me listening. Each woman is presented by a different narrator, each with their own distinctive voice, which made it very easy to keep the stories separate, even as they wove together. A bit of a lean into thriller-like writing distracted me toward the end, but overall I found the characters to be beautifully written and full of interest.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love, love, loved this book and it's narrators! This story should be read/heard by every woman... It is beautifully written and so woman/women's connections positive. I'm definitely looking forward to more of Emilia Hart's writing!! Thank you for sharing the gift of this book with the world :)

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent! There are some places where it is clear the narration has been dubbed in, but over all the story is fantastic!
