About this audiobook

With the 80's nostalgia of Stranger Things, this horror drama from NYT bestselling author Christopher Golden follows neighborhood families and a mysterious, lurking evil on one Halloween day.

It’s Halloween night, 1984, in Coventry, Massachusetts, and two families are unraveling. Up and down the street, horrifying secrets are being revealed, and all the while, mixed in with the trick-or-treaters of all ages, four children who do not belong are walking door to door, merging with the kids of Parmenter Road. Children in vintage costumes with faded, eerie makeup. They seem terrified, and beg the neighborhood kids to hide them away, to keep them safe from The Cunning Man. There’s a small clearing in the woods now that was never there before, and a blackthorn tree that doesn’t belong at all. These odd children claim that The Cunning Man is coming for them...and they want the local kids to protect them. But with families falling apart and the neighborhood splintered by bitterness, who will save the children of Parmenter Road?

New York Times bestselling, Bram Stoker Award-winning author Christopher Golden is best known for his supernatural thrillers set in deadly, distant locales...but in this suburban Halloween drama, Golden brings the horror home.

I have been a fan of Golden's writing since I picked up Strangewood when it was released years ago....then I had to pick up Wildwood Road, Red Hands, and lastly Ararat; which i absolutely LOVED! His newest 'All Hallows' took me right back to the early 70's on Halloween night! Though the book takes place in 1984 Coventry Massachusetts, I was right back to 1973 and walking down the street with my BEST childhood 'girl' friend waiting to see who could fill their pillow case with candy, and especially Reese's PB cups. Only in Tacoma Washington....we did NOT have the Cunning Man taking and killing kids in the woods. With Chloe's ( a high school girl who realizes that she is gay) dad getting ready to put on his annual Night of Horrors 'The Haunted Woods' the town of Coventry is in for a HUGE and terrifying surprise. Watch out for The Cunning Man! You have to stop and think when you read this; okay, there is lot of family drama, and not just a 'all out horror story thrown into your face' and though I really would have loved more of 'the Witch and the Cunning Man's' background, but this was what it was like growing up and just dying for Halloween night to go trick or treating and to spend time with your friends, (and Bullies) to see who was going to get the honor of 'Best Horror and most scary costume'.
Pay attention to the awesome cover artwook.....
Loved this coming of Age Halloween night tale of loss and horror on the scariest night of the year!

Good but but very much "horror" until near the end.
