Real examples of classroom h...view moreThe author taught school for 46 years and in this book he takes a look at humor, intended and otherwise, in a variety of teaching situations at all levels of education. Real examples of classroom humor from K-graduate school and from various parts of the nation are cited. Many of the vignettes are taken from science, but other disciplines are represented in the book as well. Some school related non-academic areas of learning such as baseball and theatre are also represented. Certainly, a good deal of instruction takes place in both and each offers a potentially rich brand of humor. The author taught in a variety of education venues—a Native American boarding school in southeastern Montana (Busby), Montana’s largest high school (Billings Senior), Black Hills State College (Spearfish, SD), University of Wyoming (Laramie), Appalachian State University (Boone, NC), and Brown University (Providence, RI). He has authored over two-dozen articles in science education journals and co-edited two botany books for teachers and kids. He holds B.S., M.Ed., M.S.T. and Ed.D. degrees and is now retired. He makes his home with his wife, Dona, in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.view less
