The first period of his retirement was enjoyed as a hobby farmer in the Acheron Valley, north of Melbourne. From a very early age he had a guitar, wrote songs, sang with bands and solo, always as a hobby alongside a career but always with passion and pleasure. He enjoyed fifties rock but soon found country music to be his favourite genre.
