One lasting memory goes back to a family holiday in Scotland at about the age of eight. Whilst filling a camping kettle at the foot of Ben Nevis she asked her parents whether they could climb the mountain. The response, at that time, was negative but in later years she and her husband scaled many peaks including Scafell, Snowdon and indeed Ben Nevis. Her successful career as a qualified accountant lasted many years but she always felt happiest walking for hours in beautiful parts of Britain and in particular Scotland. Sadly in 2010 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and, as a result, her ability to continue hill walking quickly diminished. She retired from work but refused to accept that her passion for the outdoors had also ended. Her husband’s great grandmother always spoke so fondly of the beautiful island of Ulva just off Mull on Scotland’s west coast. Touring initially in their 28 year old VW camper they visited the island and have since returned many times. Inspired by the old lady’s recollections they have researched much of the history of Mull, Ulva and the Western Isles. They now own a touring caravan which affords them the chance to stay on idyllic sites surrounded by spectacular views and majestic wildlife. Multiple Sclerosis may have closed one door but the pleasure to be had from the landscape is always there to see and appreciate. Adjusting to life without a stressful job has afforded Jessie the opportunity to write a story based partly on her knowledge and partly on her experience. The book includes characters both human and animal. It contains stories which may well strike a chord with those who share Jessie’s love of both Scotland and of caravan touring.view less
