A very introverted child my creative energy soon turned me into a painter and a bookworm. Reading became my window onto the world outside the orphanage. I left the orphanage at age 14 and returned to London. My first job earned me the princely sum of 25 shillings a week a pound went for my keep the 5 shillings had to pay my tram fares to work and take my sister to the pictures once a week. I joined the RAF and worked on Lancasters, and finished my service working on jet fighters. I left the RAF and went to work as a lab technician at the Marsden. From there I went to Paris to study art. When I returned I joined the London Fire Brigade later transferring to Norfolk Fire Service As well as painting I began to write and have had a short story and two poems published.view less
