Her passion is to educate individuals, from childhood through adulthood, on practical and useful psychological information, such as self-management of thoughts and feelings. Dr. Secrest encourages school systems to introduce these kinds of skills during early childhood and expand on them through the high-school years. She is also dedicated to raising awareness of the consequences of childhood bullying and the importance of teaching children their psychological and legal rights.
In Marriage is a Business, Dr. Secrest writes to help couples design their marriage relationship such that it will enhance their life together. With 50% of marriages currently ending in divorce, her book offers a fresh look at how to successfully build a shared life.
