After years of jobs and raising children and reading everything she could get her hands on, she finally settled down to writing her first novel. Some of her favorite authors are Neil Gaiman, Kate Atkinson, Jim Butcher and (of course) J.R.R. Tolkien. "I owe a debt of gratitude to Madeleine L'engle," she says.
