Over the course of 1996 and early 1997, the small page began accepting and publishing submissions from other writers and artists. By October 1997, it had grown to the point that it was relaunched at PoetsHaven.com and The Poet's Haven made its official debut as an online press. Today, "The Poet's Haven" online magazine is a place where artists across a wide and diverse spectrum can feel safe seeing their work published. The Poet's Haven has now published over 6000 pages of poetry, artwork, and short stories from over 2000 creators. We are open to unsolicited submissions from both experienced, published creators and talents new to submitting work for publication. We offer no restrictions on length or style and minimal restriction on content and genre. Visit PoetsHaven.com to submit work through the online forms and to view the full submission rules and guidelines. Celebrating the press's tenth anniversary in 2007, the first "Saturday Night With The Poet's Haven" open-mic event was held, recording the live performances for a podcast. A second event was scheduled in April 2008, a third the following June, and from there the shows became a regular event. Effective fall 2011, "Saturday Night With The Poet's Haven" events will be held on the third Saturday of every even-numbered month. The show is at Coffee Phix Café in South Euclid, just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. These shows start at 7:00 PM (real-time, not "poetry-standard-time") and are ALL AGES / UNMODERATED events. Odd-numbered months, The Poet's Haven will be nomadic, sometimes having a "Saturday Night" event but oftentimes doing some other type of show intended to bring modern poetry to a wider audience. The Poet's Haven also manages the poetry slam that is part of Canton's First Friday festival. "Canton's First Friday Poetry Spectacular" includes a featured poet as well as the open-mic and slam competitions. Arts in Stark sponsors the poetry slam, with $50, $30, and $20 prizes going to first, second, and third place in the competition. 2011 saw The Poet's Haven venture once again into the world of paper publishing, with the launch of "The Poet's Haven Author Series." "Getting There" by Jacob King launched the series in April, with new books to come on a bimonthly basis. 2012 sees the return of Poet's Haven Digest as a series of anthology publications. The books can be purchased at any Poet's Haven event, at a number of independent book and art dealers throughout north-east Ohio, or online at PoetsHaven.com.view less
