He is an academic who has received a bachelor’s degree; two master’s degrees and is a Texas Master Peace Officer, Along the way he also picked up certificates as a paralegal, college level instructor and as a state qualified security manager in Texas.
His first career took in 27 years as full time law enforcement professional. He worked his way through college as a small town cop in Clinton and Lake Latowana, Missouri. His later experience included work in investigations as a member of the Regular US Army Military Police Corps. He also worked as a detective for the Harris County Sheriff’s Department. Further promotion saw him serving as a detentions sergeant for the same agency. There he started the first in-house drug and alcohol treatment program for inmates of the county jail. He also setup a staff research function that worked on a number of major projects for the department.
David started a number of private businesses: Keystone Research and Union Star LLC; as well as a 501©(3) nonprofit, The Texas Police Institute.
Today his regular work involves licensing, training and paralegal work for private security companies in Texas.
David’s professional writing career started in 1992 when he began writing and publishing a large newspaper, The Union Star, for the Harris County Deputy Sheriff’s Union, Local 154 AFL-CIO/IUPA. It had a monthly circulation of over 40,000 copies distributed across Texas. His first book was a pocket reference manual for that organization. After that he published his own independent police newspaper, “The Texas Street Beat”. David has also published numerous non-fiction articles for both trade publications and academic peer reviewed journals. A number of them were published internationally. He regularly contributes articles on product reviews and informational websites for clients on o-desk.
David is also an accomplished cartoonist who created the “G & Me” cartoons featured in this book and other publications. David’s recent books include ghostwriting “The Millionaire Mindset”, and as original author for “Divorce and My Children”
David is now married to Indonesian native Ratna Ucida. He was formerly married to Pak Tu-Im from South Korea with whom he has two children. David says that he, “made every mistake in the book” when he divorced his first wife. “Writing my second and third books was as much as learning experience for me as it is for my readers”. According to David, “My current marriage is much the better for it.”
In his spare time David can be found either in his work shop or on his Harley Davidson. “Both of them are ways I use to deal with stress” said David. “Fortunately, my wife loves to ride and is just as creative as I am. We work on many projects together.”
Hopefully this will not be the last book we see from David. He says he has ideas for a number of future works including personal recovery from divorce and a history of private security.view less
