His books are enjoyable to read, told in a style reminiscent of the western writers of yesteryears. They have been compared to those of the late great Walter Nobel Burns. In Turpin’s books, he blends fact and fiction to tell some whopping good yarns. He puts exciting colorful words in the mouths of his characters and places them in rip-snorting, gun-smoking scenes that actually took place on the Owlhoot Trail and border towns of the 1880s and 1890s in the Wild West.
His stories often contain historical persons and represent true events, telling how things might have happened. The Wild West comes alive in vivid detail in deeds and daring seldom found in western fiction. You can almost smell the gun smoke in the air and feel the sting of a sharp blade against your skin, as you read Bob Turpin’s Wild West stories.
In the last three years Bob has written and published six printed books, thirteen ebooks, and nine Ezine articles pertaining to the Old West. The articles were published by Ezine, an electronic publication distributed via the Internet and other forms of computer networks.
He also published many articles and short stories which appeared in most of the historical western magazines from 1967 through 1999. In 1972 he published “Oklahoma’s Buried Millions” and did a second printing that same year. This was followed by two more small books, “Treasure Hunt 1” and “Treasure Hunt 2.”
So, pards, for your reading pleasure, saddle up and join Bob on his many exciting and entertaining rides through the pages of western history and meet the folks in his books, good and bad, who lived there. Bob has a million stories to tell ... and even though they are considered to be historical fiction, they are all based on true and recorded incidents and happenings.
