Bevan Fischer now has over eighty million copies of her books in print worldwide, and her work has been translated into thirty-four languages. NOT! HaHa!! She also makes up stories for a living and hey we all have to dream...
In fact I am an indie author and proud of my achievements which have happened as a consequence of an enforced career change! I wrote my first story aged eight and have never really stopped since. A busy career, mostly in the fashion industry, filled my days. I have written articles, regular features and a blog for many years but every attempt to write a novel never made it beyond the first couple of chapters.
Finally an opportunity to follow my dream came when I lost my job and we simultaneously got a buyer for our house in the UK. We planned to downsize and remove to Spain. Almost as light relief from the organisation and packing I started to write the first chapters.
Since our relocation I have penned 9 novels including this one. The first 8 novels form part of a series named Palmerstone. Written in the family saga genre the books follow the lives and loves of a quartet of friends who meet at school and remain lifelong friends. The Friendship Diaries features Rebecca, an English country girl who successfully pursues a career in fashion and establishes her own business: Palmerstone. Her lifelong friends Caitlin, an American Park Avenue Princess, Suzanne and Penny's lives are all very different yet their fates remain entwined over the years. Beyond Friendship narrates the lives of the younger generation of characters.
In October last year I was suffering from withdrawal symptoms having completed the Palmerstone series (so far). Understandably I was missing daily contact with my imaginary friends. Whilst musing on my next project I dipped into a few novels new and old. Amongst them one of my all time favourites, the marvelous Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Anyway I got to wondering what the Bennet family would be like if they were alive in the 21st Century... Emerald (A Universal Truth) is the result.
My story is not intended to be a rewrite of P&P, Austen's legendary novel is merely a starting point. I have taken a lot of liberties with the characters, and the story line bares little resemblance to the original because life isn't like that anymore! However there are parts of the story that echo the past and also parallel the original.
I have had a lot of fun writing the story and I apologise unreservedly to all of you that are offended by the resulting text ;-( I truly hope that you find the stories amusing.
Lastly a huge thank you to my readers. It never ceases to fill me with wonder and delight that people all over the world download and read the stories that I have written. It is an awesome experience xoxo.view less
