She often carried around a battered orange duo-tang, scribbling down her thoughts, and questioning life. Later, she attended college to study Journalism, and in the years that followed, turned her thoughts to more current matters, writing professionally for local newspapers. Virginia married her high school sweetheart and had two children. It was only recently that she was able to return to her true passion, and in 2011 Virginia self-published her first full-length novel, Hauntingly Familiar, which was inspired by the notes captured in that battered orange duotang of her childhood. Her fascination with the paranormal began in 1979 and endures today. Her first full length novel has been met with acclaim. Questions she is often asked are: Did the events in Hauntingly Familiar really happen? And When is your next book coming out? To the first, her answer is a solemn nod. To the second, she merely smiles and says, "Soon." So what does Virginia want readers to know? "That I write books because I love to read, and it would seem I'm a natural story teller," she says. "When I was in high school, my English Teacher told me: Write what you know. Later, in college, my professor reiterated that advice. As a journalist, you can't write the story if you don't understand or value it. I don't fully understand why, but I'm drawn to the paranormal... or maybe it's drawn to me!" She laughs. She and her husband live on a quiet acreage in Mission B.C., Canada, where the battered orange duotang has been replaced by a three-ring binder and a laptop computer. She can often be found in her home office, hard at work on her latest project.view less
