Beside his basic profession (he holds two doctorates in cybernetics), he edited Moscow underground publications, tried his hand in essays and songwriting, worked on the staff of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Retired professor of University of Massachusetts, Rutman lives in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
