She can say this since she’s won awards for her newspaper writing, one of her screenplays, as well as achieving acclaim for her picture books. In addition to teaching and running writer workshops, Kitty has worked as—a camp counselor, a swim instructor, a typist, an accountant, a graphic artist, a mailman, a toy seller, a nursery school director, a counselor for abused girls, a counselor for underprivileged children, a rehab counselor, as well as managing a number of other teaching assignments.
Working with her reading therapy dog, a Welsh Corgi named Coriander, fills up time when she’s not writing. Coriander has been through extensive training. No, she cannot read, but she enjoys listening to children who are learning.
Living on four acres with eleven gardens Kitty and her husband share their home with Otto, the ancient cat, Lucy, the damaged cat (she was abused as a kitten), and Josephine, the zippy kitten. A depressed canary named Mr. Poe has a cage in the kitchen where he utters threats and curses. Two tiny frogs supervise Kitty in her writing studio, Fat Man and Little Boy.view less
