He originally signed for Hearts when young but was later taken on by Hibs when an irregularity in the contract appeared. He played for the Easter Road club for the next 11 years. In 1971, Stevenson was transferred to Ayr United before retiring as a player two years later. He then went on to pursue his business interests in Bonnyrigg.view less
