Asch has had a very exciting life. He was born 400 years ago in a cave in Norway and studied Goblinology at the University of Oslo. In the 18th century, he invented children’s literature. Unfortunately a woman named Mother Goose stole the book and got the credit. Then he came to America where he fought in the Revolution, serving under George Washington as a horse. Some years later, he discovered the town of Mud Corners and began to chronicle the adventures of Jason Mason and Ulysses Gump. He still lives there today, in a hollow tree not far from the dump. “It’s crowded but cozy,” he says. “And the rent’s low.” Mr. Asch also writes YA novels, picture books, chapter books, and plays under the name Douglas Rees.view less
