SWINBURNE knows higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the U. of Northern Iowa--commissioned in the United States Marine Corp the day he graduated--served as a platoon commander, company executive officer, and company commander. After being honorably discharged, he taught in the public schools and earned a Master of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado. He served two community colleges. His doctorate in higher education is from Indiana University.
He served as a graduate professor of higher education for twenty-five years. Simultaneously, he served as dean, for a year, and Vice President of Student Affairs for thirteen years. He has served two private colleges-- as president, and another as trustee. He established programs in higher education, restored, built, and consulted with institutions.
He has chaired more than seventy-five Ph.D and Ed.D graduates-- presidents, vice presidents, deans, faculty, etc.
Swinburne now writes fiction full- time. He likes to say, “My students thought all my writing was fiction.”
