While in college, and because of her careers, Virginia had the opportunity to meet persons in many countries who were at varied stages of their lives; yet, there was a common thread about their lives and the stories they shared. This inspired her to write about her own life experiences and those of the many persons whose lives she touched or that touched hers, including her European parents. Her favorite means of expression is the form of essays and poems that paint a picture for the reader and provide progressive understanding of the message from beginning to the end. What she would like to transmit to the reader is that the many steps we take on the ladder of our lives build from the last step. We have much to learn from creation, whether it be human or inanimate; her essays and poems were written with this in mind. Throughout her writing, Virginia exhibits a depth of feeling and insight about her subjects that she believes are common to other humans; thus, by reading the essays and poems in this book and reflecting on your life experiences, you may find new meaning, importance, beauty in your gifts of expression, and pride in your heritage.
Andrea Monti Riffe
Andrea was born in New York City, a city that easily allows for memorable experiences. She began writing as an undergraduate student, and she chose topics that related to her memories. She often said that she did not like to write unless it was necessary, but she was often praised for her efforts. This resulted in writings that are included in this book; she is now willing to share some of her life with the reader. Because of her expressive style, readers can share in these situations not as mere observers, but as persons who can identify with and become emotionally engrossed in them. It is these types of life experience, preserved in the memory and then in print, that help us realize how humans grow in ways that help them become who they are as adults.view less
