Bessie Nettles Allen was born in 1969 and raised in Selma, Alabama. She is the second-oldest of four children, having two brothers and one sister, raised by her stepfather and mother, Henry and Mary Wade. Bessie attended Selma Public City Schools, where she later graduated from Selma High School in 1987. She then attended Wallace Community College and graduated with an associate’s degree in business administration. She also holds a bachelor’s in Christian education from Truth Bible College, Jacksonville, Florida, in 2000. She later received her master’s degree (summa cum laude) in Christian education, and a doctorate in biblical studies (cum laude) from Christian Bible College and Seminary, Pontiac, Michigan in 2003.
Dr. Allen served at the Abundant Life Center for about fifteen years as an ordained evangelist, assisting in areas of jail, food bank, intercessory prayer, prophetic and healing ministries of Selma.
Dr. Allen has also worked in the legal field over ten years as a legal secretary and a servant to her community politically active and as a member of Alabama Ujima, a chapter of the National Association of Black Social Worker, Inc. headquartered in Washington, D.C. She has been married twenty-six years to Eddie Allen, Jr., and they are the proud parents of five children: Latasha, Eddie III, Elizabeth, Elisha, Elijah.view less
