She received her doctorate of nursing practice in 2008 from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with a concentration in forensic nursing and program evaluation. She has five years of experience as a forensic nurse examiner for adults and adolescents and seven years of experience in pediatric and adolescent response. She has worked on 20 peer-reviewed publications over the course of six years, including the first and second volume of Sexual Assault Across the Lifespan 2E: A comprehensive Clinical Reference. In 2015, she received the award for Education Article of the Year from the Journal of Forensic Nursing.view less
