He studied at Diè Hoërskool Wonderboom in Pretoria where he started writing his first novel. He served as the chairperson of Altar Servers Association Archdiocese of Pretoria 2013-2016. Obakeng is a Philosophy student at St John Vianney Seminary Pretoria for his priestly formation year and writes at every spare moment he gets.
