She also minored in Drama and Dance during her college degree pursuits. While performing and creating children’s texts exemplify the bulk of her professional work for over 20 years as a teacher, actress, drama director, and choreographer, Jessica admits that her greatest role in life is now being a loving parent and homeschool educator to two amazing children and a loyal partner to her husband, Ken.
Besides, as a current adoptive and foster parent, Jessica further learned the importance of mindful and positive parenting by completing many parenting and psychological courses. She believes in the whole child approach to learning, literacy, and parenting, so she applies these critical themes in her work as an author. She wants young readers and their families, teachers, and friends to use literature as a mirror to reflect themes and characters in their own lives and to enjoy quiet but powerful moments together.
Lastly, when Jessica is not working on a new children’s book plot, she enjoys various hobbies, such as hiking, yoga, journaling, travelling, art, cooking, birdwatching, and meditating. She presently resides in Burlington, Vermont, USA, where she appreciates local nature and all things mindful!view less
