She has published a book on film adaptations of Victorian works (The Literary Monster on Film, McFarland & Co., 2010), worked as managing editor of the journal Victorian Literature and Culture, edited several books on Victorian subjects, and written articles on Jane Austen, Jane Carlyle, Thomas Carlyle, George Eliot, Lady Morgan, Frances Trollope, Robert Louis Stevenson, and the Brontë family, as well as Geraldine Jewsbury.
