She began working at the Urbana Free Library in 1964, and she still works there part-time. When she became acquainted with the library’s genealogical archives, she started researching her family history. In addition to this project, she has performed genealogical research for the archives, the Champaign County Geneaology Society, and the Illinois State Geneaology Society. A member of both societies, she is also an avid reader and bridge player.
Linda Barcus was born and raised in Urbana, Illinois, and still resides there with Dale, her husband of 50 years. She first became interested in family research when a short family tree was sent to her from her father’s family. Learning he was adopted at the age of nine, she decided to search for his biological family. Her love of genealogy grew as she continued to research with Waneta at the Urbana Free Library. In addition to this project, she has performed research for the library’s archives and the Champaign County Genealogical Society. She and Dale enjoy exploring the United States in their RV, doing research as they travel.view less
