He was a medic in the 169th Field Artillery Unit in Hiawatha Kansas (1969–1975) after basic training in Fort Polk Louisiana and medic training at Brooke Army Hospital, Fort Sam, Houston, Texas.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree (BS) in education and a master’s degree in school administration (MSED) from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville Missouri.
Michael worked for the Saint Joseph School District (SJSD) for thirty-five years as a teacher and elementary school principal. After his retirement, he spent the next decade teaching in the education department of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph Mo, supervising student teachers, and coauthoring with Dr. Elizabeth Hendrix two books, titled Educators Learning to Be Socially Just through Critical Field Experiences and Educators Learning to Be Socially Just. Michael currently works with the Learning for Life program with the Pony Express Council of the BSA, with emphasis on special needs camps for students with learning disabilities. On Tuesday nights, he works prison ministry at the Western Missouri Diagnostic Correctional Prison, in St. Joseph.
This is his first book on his own.
Michael resides in St. Joseph with his wife, Angela, of forty-four years and has two daughters and three granddaughters.
Michael loves to read, write, and play golf at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.view less
