He spent his early years as a migrant worker in Texas. During his younger years, his father would take the family on a migratory route north to Michigan and Ohio to pick the summer crops. He also picked cotton in North and West Texas with the family. Mr. Flores arrived in Lamont, California, at the age of ten and attended the local schools. His deep concern for the social and political issues facing his community led him to become a leader in the Chicano Movement. He founded a local organization called the Chicano Unidos for Barrio Action, was the leader of the Kern County Raza Unida Party, and was a leader in the community-college organization MECHA. Mr. Flores was also instrumental in the formation of the San Joaquin Valley MECHA Central in 1979. He attended Bakersfield College and the California State University in Bakersfield. His study majors included studies in sociology and business administration. Mr. Flores took understudies in Chicano studies, psychology, future studies, and economics. He holds an associate degree and possesses a real estate broker’s license. Mr. Flores raises the alarm for the need to transition to a new world that would be representative of a balanced and sustainable society. He challenges the readers to become the universal people that we are meant to be. He is calling for the building of a new direction and for adopting a new worldview that will lead humanity to a new world age.view less
