Amber Parker has always loved writing stories. Even as a child, she wrote many short stories. Writing has always been a way for her to express the crazy world around her. Adopted as a toddler by her parents and being raised on a ranch out in West Texas with her three brothers provided her with lots to write about. At the age of 12, Amber needed some extra help and a time out to understand and cope with life, so she moved to Stephenville, Texas, and lived in Sherrwood and Myrtie Foster’s Home for Children. She moved back to her ranch when she was fourteen.
The foster’s home was where Amber began understanding what God had planned for her. Her purpose was to help others cope and understand where they were in life. At fourteen, she moved back to the ranch with her family. She thinks all the trials she endured were to help and taking what she has been through and applying it to help anyone she can.
She grew up and married Bryan Parker. They have two great kids and live a small West Texas town.
Amber has worked several jobs, including being a relief houseparent at the foster’s home she spent time at as a child. She also did volunteer work as CASA in Stephenville, Texas. She is currently in her last year of working on a bachelor’s in psychology and working as a paraprofessional in special education.
About the Illustrator:
Sherri Moore Elkins grew up in San Angelo, Texas. She got her start in art at an early age, painting on the wallpaper in her parent’s room with face cream and hiding behind her nana’s rocking chair to color the wall. Her parents encouraged her creativity and even allowed her to paint a mural on her bedroom wall when she was thirteen. She is continually blessed with encouragement and support from her wonderful husband, David, and from all her children. She has used her creative talents to bless others in various forms—floral arrangements, cake decorating, wreath making, pictures, poetry, and painting, both canvas and crafts. She is passing her love of painting on to her many grandchildren.view less
