Ralph H. Yodice was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., during the Great Depression. As was common during that time, he forfeited his formal education for work to help support his mother and step-father. The Trolley is the story of his struggle against adversity as a young man.
His goal in life was to rise from poverty and he knew that education was the key. A true Renaissance man, he was an avid reader who loved learning and through his own method of self-learning, became well-versed in art, music, philosophy, chess, history, and literature.
As a self-taught, accomplished musician, he played clarinet for what later became the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra. He also was a member of the Century Club of short wave radio operators.
But perhaps his greatest joy was writing, having published more than 100 poems and 30 short stories in periodicals and magazines world-wide. His novel, The Trolley, is the culmination of his dream; it is his life’s work realized.view less
