Her book Banton Hits a Homerun was inspired by her late grandfather Arthur Dan who had played on a Semi Pro Negro baseball league, her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. This very prolific writer has won several community and Presidential awards for writing, directing and producing redemption films and videos for risk and at risk youth and young adults who resided in the urban Southern communities in California.
Sho Re Bons often utilized the arts and poetry as subliminal counseling and art therapy for herself and all the young participants that joined her Youth Transformation projects for over ten years. Her creative and instrumental songs, dances and media productions were performed at local recreation centers, schools, community festivals and also aired on public access channels changed peoples lives. The need for youth intervention was a high priority for Sho Re Bons due to negative gang representation and devastating crimes happening in the local schools nationwide. Sho Re Bons gifts, humanitarian spirit and talents are credited to her grandparents who loved the arts and exposed her to a rich diversity of artistic expression. Sho Re Bons long awaited desire to implement her fictional characters books and short stories has became a beautiful new chapter in her life of artistic edification and she hope you will enjoy Banton Hits a Homerun as much as she has.view less
