He founded 350.org, the first grassroots global climate-change awareness campaign, and, more recently, Third Act, organizing for progressive action with people over age sixty. He serves as the Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College. His newest book, forthcoming in 2022 from Macmillan, is The Flag, the Cross, and the Station Wagon: A Graying American Looks Back at His Suburban Boyhood and Wonders What the Hell Happened.view less
