He ...view moreDavid A. Marshall is a songwriter/poet. He is the author of the riveting poetry book “Voices of Reality”. He was born in York, SC where he graduated from Jefferson High School. He subsequently relocated to New York and continued his education by Graduating from Baruch College majoring in psychology and sociology. Education included one year of graduate studies.
He always had an insatiable appetite for the written word, and has been writing songs and poetry extensively over the last four decades. His writings have garnered a plethora of awards. In his poetry, you will find the soaking up of spirituality, human nature, and the many faces of love, and its consequences.
When he is not reading or writing, he enjoys fishing, watching old movies, watching sports and listening to R & B. His influences include Langston Hughes, Nikki Giovanni, Edgar Allan Poe, Richard Wright and James Baldwin. Before retiring, he was a Certified Financial Counselor for many years. He is working on a novel and resides in Harlem, New York.view less
