pThis collection of 28 teachings by Zen Master Hozumi Gensho reads like an eloquent Dharma chapbook complete with original works of Zen calligraphy. Hozumi Roshi gently leads the reader through some of the major themes of Buddhism as presented in the Heart Sutra, the Mumonkan (Gateless Gate), the Hekigan-roku (The Blue Cliff Record), and other Zen texts. Ancient and modern masters are also cited along with passages from the Kansan-shi (Poems from Cold Mountain) and the Nanporoku (a handbook on the Way of Tea). Hozumi Roshi's work has long been available in Japan and Germany. This is the first time his teachings are available in English./ppThese are things we need to know:brulliWhat is Gratitude/liliHow to Live in the Present, Realizing Wisdom/liliReverence for Life/liliZazen/liliThe Way of Zen/li,/ul/ppReaders are sure to be inspired by Hozumi Roshi's simple but penetrating texts to discover their own Zen Hearts. /pread more

Reviews for Zen Heart
Zen Heartby Hozumi Gensho RoshiThis is a precious little book that brings out the absolute best in Zen Philosophy. With it's 28 Zen teachings and accompanying 28 original works of Zen calligraphy, I could feel the peace and serenity right from jump, even before I started reading the wonderful and inspirational words. I liked that the book is small and the teachings short, but very very jammed packed with deep wonderful and insightful ponders that kept my hopes high and my spirit filled to bursting. Appropriate topics like living in today, realizing wisdom and even taking a look at gratitude in our lives were found all through this book. I feel this little number is something to be enjoyed over and over, because I noticed as I read the teachings and then returned to them later I could have sworn someone had added or changed a few words helping me to see things in a much different light. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys spirit based thinking and the heart felt ponders that just seem to flow from this book. Thank you so much Master Hozumi, for sharing your insights with this old soul.Love & Light,Riki Frahmannread more
