An interesting take on avoiding sickness. The author chronicles the stories of 25 people who each have a different strategy or set of circumstances that they attribute their exceptional good health to. Rather than being just purely anecdotal, though, he also goes into the science that may lie behind their claim, discussing medical research and population studies that are relevant to each scenario. Some of the "secrets" aren't really reproducible to most of us, like having good genes or living in a "Blue Zone". Others, though, like eating raw garlic or taking cold showers are interesting, and I plan to try and make use of a few of them. I'd consider this book a nice bridge between more alternative type medicine and conventional Western practices. Worth checking out if you're interested in personal health.more
