Chloe Mason’s childhood memories consist of seemingly endless hospital stays. Now all grown up and healthy, her determination to fill the gaping holes in her past leads her to her long-lost brother, Harry . . . which brings Harry’s friend and business partner, Mike Keillor, crashing into her life and her heart.

Former Marine Force Recon sniper and SWAT officer—a martial arts expert and owner of a successful security company—Mike can deal coolly and efficiently with any threat . . . until he’s blindsided by something he never expected: fierce, fiery passion . . . and love.

But when Chloe inadvertently crosses the Russian mob, Mike realizes that evil is darkening his world once again. He has already lost his family; he will not lose the woman who enflames him, who makes him whole. Failure is not an option.

A great read. It was exactly what I had hoped it would be and more. In my opinion anyone who likes this genre should take time to read this book. I fully recommend it to everyone.more
I'm a die-hard Rice fan and will read every book she publishes. She could write all of her books over again, with slightly different characters, and I would love it - as long as it wasn't this one. I enjoyed this story, but it was not a typical Rice story. They had the instant "love", but then they were apart for 6 months! What?!? They were best friends during that time, so we're told, but we never got to see it. We never really got to see them spend any time together. There was almost no dialogue between the two of them. Then there was the major WTF moment for me. He finally gets to be with her because the Russians attack her. The first thing he does is leave her within 24 hours to get more info. But he doesn't leave her under anybody's protection. No!! He leaves her alone! That never happens in a Rice book with good reason!. I still enjoyed the story, and it was an easy read. Not sure it was worth $10, and don't see myself reading it over again even though I have read every other one of her stories at least twice.more
For the record, I am not a big fan of romantic suspense. I read quite a bit of it years ago and got burned out. But the author has been talked up by some friends, and I thought I'd give her a try. :)

I ended up liking the book quite a bit :) I'll definitely check out her other books as well.more
