When an antique bridal quilt appears under mysterious circumstances at the vintage clothing shop where Rachel Grant works, she is fascinated. She has never been able to resist handmade textiles from the past, for she believes that through the ages, women wove protective magic into their fabrics in order to mark the important events of their lives: birth, marriage, and death.

But there is more than good in the quilt's magic power. Day by day Rachel sees and feels the power growing, as she senses the quilt influencing her thoughts and actions. Much as Rachel's logical mind longs to deny the supernatural, the aura of evil coming from the quilt is terrifyingly real, and it seems to carry a sinister legacy into the lives of the people Rachel loves.

This book nearly bored me to death! It sounded so good, so I kept plugging away, waiting for the "good part" to happen. It never did. The ending was anti-climactic and the characters were dull. It did help me fall asleep at night, so it wasn't entirely useless.read more

Rachel works in a vintage clothing shop, and when a strange quilt turns up, she begins to feel spiritually invaded by another being, long dead – a bitter, angry spirit. Pat the professor and Ruth, the protagonist from “Ammie”, recognize what’s happening. The history of the quilt has to be learned before Rachel becomes dangerous.read more

Rachel is a customer/PhD. student who frequents a vintage clothing shop owned by Karen & Cheryl, sisters-in-law first introduced to the reader in Shattered Silk. The shop acquires a quilt which has a terrible effect on Rachel, apparent early on. The balance of the story revolves around attempts to reverse/banish the murderous impact it's having on her.I'm pretty skeptical about the paranormal, but this story made sense. There's light romance, but the other interpersonal relationships are just as interesting. Michaels' characters are so darned likable that it kept me reading.
