About this ebook

In this Rizzoli & Isles short story from New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, a bizarre death comes with a supernatural twist. Homicide cop Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles have seen their fair share of mortal crimes, but the death of Kimberly Rayner may qualify as inhuman in more ways than one. When corpse of the emaciated seventeen-year-old girl is discovered next to an empty coffin in an abandoned church, mysterious bruises around the throat suggest foul play. Caught fleeing the scene is the victim’s closest friend, Lucas Henry, an equally skeletal, pale teenager who claims he’s guilty only of having a taste for blood—a craving he shared with Kimberly. But the victim’s distraught father doesn’t believe in vampires, only vengeance. And now, another life may be at risk unless Rizzoli and Isles can uncover the astonishing truth.

I was a little disappointed in this short story.

This is a Reading Good Books review.I’m not very familiar with Tess Gerritsen’s work although I have heard of her. However, I am a fan of the TV show Rizzoli & Isles on TNT. I love Angie Harmon and I’m glad that the show is coming back for a second season. This is a free book with a preview of the next Gerritsen novel called The Silent Girl. But I’m not going into that.Freaks is a short story about a case Detective Jane Rizzoli gets that has a rather supernatural nature. Dr. Maura Isles helps Rizzoli and her team in not only solving this crime but also proving that this is far from anything paranormal.I needed a distraction from the other books I’m reading right now. One has a very slow start and I wasn’t feeling it. This definitely got me back on track and I am looking forward to Gerritsen’s other work.Rating: 3/5.Recommendation: Short and very quick. Fans of the show (who are not familiar with the books) will love it.

So this was a short story, and as a short story it was good. A crime was commited, Rizzoli and Isles get the case, and Isles solves the case. Everything is wrapped up neatly. After the story, there was an excerpt from the next Rizzoli and Isles book. The excerpt was interesting, and made me want to read the book. Reading a short story was not as satisfying as reading a full book, but it was nice to read about familiar characters.

A very nice short story on the Rizzoli and Isles series. Freaks is a spooky story with some strange happenings. I enjoy when things get weird and then Dr. Isles explains it all away logically.

So short it's barely even a short story, but I kind of liked these "freaks".

Most crime stories are read for the plot, the who/what/when of the crime. Tess Gerritsen raises the bar in the genre by giving us much more characterization, done in a superior fashion. This short story tells an interesting story, but lacks the depth of character than I've come to know and love in her stories. Without it, I found this story bland.

The shirt story part of this book that i downloaded from Barnes and Noble was... BAD! Not only did they basically sayn, that people are freaksnbut the story was just unbelievsable. It's extremly hard to imagine that Tess Gerritsen wrote it. Howevet, the two chapters of the Silent Girl were amazing and I can't wait ti read that book.

It was short, very short, but it I did enjoy it.

Interesting short story. The solution to the origin of the death is creative although two puncture wounds to the neck is rather improbable.

Way too short! If this had been a full-length novel, I think it would have been much better.

Freaks is a Rizzoli and Isles Short Story offered free on Kindle. The story involves the emaciated body of a teenager found in an abandoned church. Screams had been heard coming from the church, and the victim, Kimberly Rayner, appeared to have been strangled. An open coffin looked like it had been recently occupied, but when Rizzoli managed to catch the resident, Henry Lucas, he denied harming his girlfriend and looked genuinely distraught. Lucas claims not to be human, and when Kimberley’s father turns up, he is convinced that this “freak” murdered his daughter. It’s up to the Queen of the Dead, Maura Isles to determine the true cause of death. Very short, but with a nice plot twist, this little freebie dose of Rizzoli & Isles will keep fans happy until they get to read The Silent Girl.

This was a very fast, short story. I think this really went along with the characters and personality. I'm not familiar with Gerritsen's other works on Rizzoli and Isles but I am a fan of the show. And, from watching the show, this rings true to their personalities. It also contained some of the weirdness of the cases the pair have to solve. This book also, at the end has a bit of the screen play for the second season that starts in July. That was a welcome surprise.

While this is a short story it is still a good interesting read. As stated this is a short story that is maybe 20-30 pages long. Who knows I read on a kindle it might not even be that long lol. This book is 8.5 in the R&I series which in now a television on that airs on TNT. Please be aware that this review may contain spoilers.

I have not read any of the previous book in this series but this has made me want to read them.

The story starts out with Isles stepping out of her black Lexus. Rizzoli is waiting for the doc to look over a female body that has been found in an abandoned church next to a coffin.

Of course the doc and detective figure out the who, what, when, where and why they girl died. That is the interesting part.

Ms. Gerritsen has written a great short story that has interested me in her other books. But then that is what it is about right. Get the reader interested in hoping they will buy more.

The bunnies and I give this book 3 Carrots. I just felt that there could of been a more developed plot to this book.

very short story, would have liked it to play out longer and the ending was sort of disappointing.
