Lyndia McMillan has apologized to God many times for being slow to trust him completely?but she is like many of us. We persist in believing that we?re in control and that it is up to us alone to be a good spouse, parent, or friend. Too often we don?t see God?s hand at work. Too often we forget to turn our troubles over to him. Too often we are satisfied with ourselves when we go through the motions of being a Christian?and think God is, too.
After years of insecurity, struggle, and heartbreak, Lyndia now knows better. Unhappily wed, she juggled marriage, motherhood, and a job before divorcing after twenty-one years. A second marriage ended when her husband died of a neurological disease that robbed him of his mental and physical faculties and left Lyndia exhausted. Financial difficulties and other family health worries quickly mounted. Like so many of us, she came close to letting her problems define who she was instead of finding her identity through Christ.
Daily Bible reading along with prayer helped sustain Lyndia and prepared her heart to meet and marry Don, the love of her life. The two learned to turn everything over to the Lord before God called Don home after almost four years, leaving Lyndia to lean on her faith even more. Now, she tells their story. If you find yourself doubting the transforming power of God?s love or are seeking healing from past losses and hurts, you?ll discover comfort and hope in Unexpected Blessings.
