Least favorite book of the series if only because of the first 5 chapters. She went a little to much over to the dark side for my taste but she ended the book strong! I do like Elle/Jackson as a couple and felt she tied the series up nicely. You have to read this one if for no other reason to see how all 7 men and women work together in the end showing what true family, love, and devotion is all about.read more

I have put off reading this book because I had heard so much about how Elle was raped. I was afraid that there would be an actual description of that scene. Luckily that is no the case. There are descriptions of what she went through and the condition she is in and there is some short scenes of abuse. So those that aren't comfortable with violence and abuse might want to avoid this book. I have wonder for a very long time what would bring Jackson and Elle together. Like Jonas and Hannah they always seemed to be at odds with each other. The book goes into more detail about how Jackson and Elle came to know each other. They share a common experience now and they seem to help each other to get through the trauma. This is the first book that had all the husbands and the girls together and with some interaction with the main characters. The issue with Reverend RJ and his body guards is also solved in this book. The one thing that wasn't resolved was what happened to Ilya's brother. This is a very good story and it is a wonderful way to finish the series.read more

Still in love with Jackson, but having resigned herself to the fact that he doesn't want to be what she needs, Elle Drake has assumed the persona of a rich playgirl and gone deep undercover to investigate a wealthy Greek suspected of human trafficking. Almost set to clear him, Elle is suddenly aware that her target not only isn't what he seems, he's much worse than her wildest nightmares could possibly prepare her for. Now, caught, raped, tortured and abused, Elle has only the most tenuous psychic connection with Jackson to sustain her - and she'd dying. The final installment in the Drake Sisters series is darker and more intense than previous books in the series. It definitely isn't for the faint-hearted or squeamish. But thick as it is, I read it through in just a couple of sittings, and thought it was one of Feehan's better recent efforts.read more

Elle Drake is the youngest of the seven Drake sisters and we’ve known all along that Sheriff Jackson Deveau has been destined to love her. Still knowing that she is next in line to find love - since all her sisters have now paired up with their significant others - she is farther away from home and Jackson then ever. Elle is working as undercover agent and is involved with a very dangerous and powerful man. When Elle fails to arrive home, her disappearance leaves Jackson and those witchy sisters of hers no option but to find her and rescue her from an unseen danger. But Sea Haven is no longer safe for anyone, and it will take the powers of all the Drake sisters and their men to survive the oncoming storm. This is the final book in the Drake Sisters series (one of my favorite CF series, I might add). You all know what a sucker I am for Christine Feehan’s books and although this wasn’t what I would consider her normal type of story - this was definitely a good closing for a fantastic series. Elle and Jackson were so needy of each other - their love was poignant and just a beautiful thing to read about. I loved that we finally get Jackson’s story - we’ve known all along that he had been held prisoner against his will and we finally get to see how that affected him and makes him the quiet, brooding man that he is today. Elle’s experience was just as heart-wrenching and unfathomable as his. They are kindred spirits who used those negative experiences to help heal and eventually make them a force to be reckoned with.I will forewarn, this is not for the faint of heart - there are scenes of rape and torture and although these scenes were explicit in nature, I am glad Ms. Feehan did not gloss or sugar coat them. I did feel that Elle’s recovery to such severe trauma was quick and not very realistic - but in the end we must just take it as it is and come to the realization that it is romantic fiction. To anyone picking this series up for the first time, I would recommend you start from the beginning with Sarah’s story - only because you come to love and cherish each sister independently. With that said, I am sad that this series has finally come to an end - but I’ll keep my fingers crossed that there will be a new series featuring Ilya’s brothers (which might not be too far fetched since one of them did have a cameo in this story). I really enjoyed seeing where the other sisters were in their lives and, of course, those sexy men we’ve all fallen in love with along the way. This was dark and edgy - but also full of love, hope and forgiveness. A fantastic read and highly recommended to romance lovers.

The last of the seven Drake sisters novel, this is the story of Elle and Jackson. While the book was fast paced and full of action, I felt like there wasn't enough time devoted to telling how the two actually fell in love. It seemed that the backstory was already out there in the last books, and therefore not really expanded on. It was just assumed that the two were in love and meant to be together. Aside from that, I found the ending rushed and too nicely tied up.

Hidden Currents is book 7 (the final installment, perhaps...) of Christine Feehan's enjoyable Drake Sisters series. In it, we find the story of the youngest sister Elle Drake, and the man destined to help her shoulder the intimidating Drake legacy, Jackson Deveau. Years ago, as Jackson lay in enemy hands, tortured and broken, Elle filled his mind and shared her psychic energy and strength with him to save his soul. After his escape, Jackson moved to Sea Haven with his friend Jonas Harrington to meet Elle. For years, he has lived on the outskirts of her life, afraid that Elle will never be able to accept the violence that taints him, terrified of the Drake legacy, until the day comes that he must save her life. Working undercover to bring down a powerful human trafficking ring, Elle is taken prisoner by a strong psychic. She must trust that Jackson and her sisters will come for her, as she endures sadistic torture from a violent man determined to break her spirit, dominate her life, and control her.Hidden Currents is the most disturbing installment yet in the Drake Sisters saga. The first six chapters are full of shocking details of Elle's kidnap and the subsequent physical and psychological torture she experienced at the hands of a madman. It is sickening and alarming, and is really difficult to read. In fact, I put the book down for a few days after reading those chapters - I was simply overwhelmed. But once I picked it back up, I couldn't put it down. Elle and Jackson are very powerful couple with a dynamic story. I was happy to see the other sisters and their husbands/fiancés in Hidden Currents as well. Feehan always does an incredible job of tying her characters together with characters from other books in her series, and I am always ready to embrace them and find out what they've been up to. As the last book in this series, Hidden Currents doesn't quite live up to the earlier books. Don't get me wrong, everything ends neatly, but it seemed as if something was missing. Perhaps Feehan was trying to leave an opening for further books - maybe from the perspective of Ilya's brothers? I suppose we'll have to stay tuned to see if anything comes from that.
