A fun, sexy, murder-mysteryromance for all teen sleuths!

Aphra Behn Connolly has the type of life most teenage girls envy. She lives on a remote tropical island and spends most of her time eavesdropping on the rich and famous. The problem is that her family?s resort allows few opportunities for her to make friends?much less to meet cute boys. So when a smoldering Seth Mulo arrives with his parents, she?s immediately drawn to him. Sure, he?s a little bit guarded, and sure his parents are rather cold, and okay he won?t say a word about his past, but their chemistry is undeniable. Then a famous rock star?s girlfriend turns up dead on the beach?strangled by her own bikini top?and alarm bells sound. Is it too great a coincidence that Seth?s family turned up just one day before a murder? As the plot thickens, Aphra finds that danger lurks behind even the most unexpected of faces. . . .

Aphra and her dad has lived the normal, better life on the amazing tropical island. With her mom out of the picture. That is until a mysterious family shows up with the worst fake accent on earth and ofcourse a dead body washing up on shore right after.Linda Gerber has covered her bases to write this awesome mystery. With the action on every page, I doubt anyone would put this down till the last page. Aphra was used to her resort life, it's like all year summer vacation but without the school crushes and friends ofcourse. When her mother suddenly left her and her dad, she tried to accept it and live on without her. But when a mysterious family checks in to the resort with a fake southern accent, Aphra sparks an interest. Espeacially in their son, Seth Mulo. Questions come to Aphra's mind non- stop, who are they ? why is dad acting so weird ? Soon, Seth is hanging around her, before they can go further then a "hello" the dead body of a curent rockstar guest's on and off again girlfriend is washed up on shore with a bikini thats on a little too tight. Deathly tight actually. Soon Aphra is thrown into a death game. Shes got her heart tied to Seth's but also a gun trained to her head. As she rushes to save a guy and his family she barely knows, she finds herself almost losing her dad and finding her mom again. As the knots hang tight, her life from before loosens and becomes something else. Death By Bikini would be highly recommened to those who enjoy a fast acting mystery with a dash of romance.read more

Aphra Connolly lives on an island resort owned by her father. However, things are getting rather more interesting lately. There's a mysterious family, complete with hot teenage boy Seth, a second mysterious guest, and a third guest has been found strangled on the beach. Aphra needs to find out what's happening at the resort before anyone else dies - and so that she knows it is okay to fall in love with Seth. DEATH BY BIKINI is over two hundred pages, but it feels shorter. Gerber's pacing is fast and furious. I never felt overwhelmed, but the book was over before I knew it. My mother also finished it in a single day, a rare occurance nowadays. But unlike many beach reads, DEATH BY BIKINI has an incredible heroine. Aphra is resourceful, athletic, and intelligent. Her mistakes seem real, rather than events included just to further the plot. Seth spends most of the novel hiding his past so his character is necessarily less developed, but he shows he's brave and caring throughout the novel. The mystery component of DEATH BY BIKINI is solid. There are clues as to the murderer's identity and purpose, but neither is readily apparent. Plus, while Gerber seeds hints of larger mysteries afoot, she knows allowing some payoff in this novel only makes the next that much more desirable. (There's nothing worse than being handed a bushel of questions by an author and receiving no answers.)read more

A clever, fun and fast-paced mystery for teens. Makes for a great beach read or, in my case, a rainy day spent in front of the fireplace under a blanket wishing I was at the beach. It was a quick, one-sitting read that had me thoroughly entertained. Ready to start the next book.read more

Aphra Behn Connolly lives at a tropical island resort her father owns. Despite the rich and famous guests she mingles with, Aphra doesn’t find island life so exciting … until one day a mysterious family – which just happens to include a hot guy Aphra’s age – shows up and sets off a chain of events which includes one of guests being strangled by her own bikini…This is a quick paced and satisfying teen mystery with some truly scary moments (a near drowning, claustrophobic moments in tight caves, and chases through the rain-soaked jungle at night), lots of intrigue and a dash of romance. The small island setting and the limited number of characters made spotting the villain pretty easy and left me with some nagging plausibility questions, but that is a small quibble. Aphra is an appealing, strong female character who has no problem jumping into dangerous situations to save those she loves.Although the main plotline is wrapped up, there is an ongoing mystery that continues in the next installment – Death by Latte.
