How I Discovered America: First Contact

16 pages13 minutes

Gerhardus uses the short story form to describe different aspects of American culture. He has chosen the perspective of a stay-at-home dad who recently arrived in the US. He has a daughter and a hard working wife and is left to his own wits most of the day. He is curious and not adverse to adventure.

The author has had a similar experience in life. He uses his own experiences as an emotional basis for his stories, not the actual events nor the people he, the author, has met.

The author's purpose is to ease his by travel tormented reader's mind with a 'quick read,' like a healthy literary snack. All the pieces are accessible and take place in an area that is recognized easily.
