From the Publisher

It's a striking feature of Protestantism that few Protestants know anything about the founder of their religion. Martin Luther is one of the most pathological figures in history. Would any sane, rational person wish to subscribe to a religion whose founder declared: "Reason is the Devil's greatest whore; by nature and in manner of being she is a noxious whore; she is a prostitute, the Devil's appointed whore; whore eaten by scab and leprosy who ought to be trodden under foot and destroyed, she and her wisdom...Throw dung in her face to make her ugly. She is and she ought to be drowned in baptism...She would deserve, the wretch, to be banished to the filthiest place in the house, the toilet."

Protestantism is the gospel of unreason and attracts only the irrational. It's difficult to imagine that the reformation of Catholicism could produce something even worse, but Luther managed it. Protestantism is practically deranged, reflecting the profound psychological torments of its founder.

Making extensive use of Luther's own words, the Pythagorean Illuminati, the oldest secret society in the world, have produced a polemical attack on the religion that has come to be most closely identified with the evils of Western capitalism. Protestantism is the religion of Mammon. It is an anti-religion, for people who do not want to relinquish belief in God but have no interest in expressing any spirituality.

Do not read this book if you are an Abrahamist. This book is only for rational, intelligent, open-minded people.

The religion of the Illuminati is called Illumination and belongs to the Gnostic tradition of enlightenment. It promotes reason and knowledge and is totally opposed to religions of faith.

Why Educated Christians Are Sticking With Church

The idea is peppered through the writings of scholars, great thinkers, and New Atheist-types: Education is the cure for religion. Freud wrote that civilization “has little to fear from educated people and brain-workers” who have rejected religion. And “if religious instruction were not allowed until the child had attained the age of reason,” maintained Christopher Hitchens, “we would be living in a quite different world.” New data from the Pew Research Center doesn’t disprove these claims, but it does challenge them. While Americans with college experience are overall less likely to attend ser

Take Me to Church

IT’S A LESSON APT FOR A BOOK ABOUT FAITH: THINGS happen for a reason. The waves of conservative Protestant influence that have swept American life at various points in history have often seemed to come out of nowhere. The emergence of the Christian right’s political influence in the 1970s, for example, just as experts said religion was losing its place in U.S. culture, was shocking. But in her new major work on the subject, The Evangelicals: The Struggle to Shape America, historian Frances FitzGerald (who won a Pulitzer in 1973 for Fire in the Lake) shows how the origins of these booms are dis

Why White Evangelicals Are Feeling Hopeful About Trump

Right now, a large group of Americans are feeling very hopeful about Donald Trump’s presidency. In polls, they show up in different demographic categories: They’re Republicans; they’re Trump voters; they’re of all different ages and from every geographic region. But the group that stands out—the label that best seems to characterize people in the U.S. who are feeling better than they did three weeks ago because of Trump—is white evangelical Christians. A new survey by the Public Religion Research Institute and The Atlantic found that 39 percent of self-identified evangelicals who are white fee
