About this ebook

For the last two years, human Aponi Runningbear has been training to be part of Grime, the magical police division tasked with protecting humanity from SOAP terrorists. But things aren’t going well. She’s barely keeping up with her studies, failing the physical component, and her Generalized Anxiety Disorder is making her bad days even worse. When her team is given the chance to find a missing coworker and stop SOAP from producing a DNA-altering drug that’s killing humans, Aponi grabs hold of the chance to show she’s meant for Grime. But as the investigation heats up, she’s forced to deal with the tormentor from her past, dead bodies, and the certainty that SOAP’s going to win this battle. Humanity’s dying, Grime’s in trouble, and she’s failing...does a foster kid really have what it takes to save the world and herself?

I’ve been fortunate of late with paranormal reads - there has been an increase in the new ideas, new configurations and even new mixes of paranormal creatures, situations and plots. Natasha Deen’s True Grime 2: Angel Maker is following in that line of ‘new’ with an innovative and wholly entertaining read.

With a completely relatable heroine in Aponi, we meet a young woman who is deeply scarred by emotional wounds of the past, but struggling to attain some measure of peace and respect from her coworkers. What shines is the relatable human emotions that emanate from each character we encounter, and the humor with which the characters interact and react to one another. Set in a world that is artfully crafted and described with familiar and fantastical objects intermingled to allow the reader’s imagination to grasp onto and delve into the story.

Although there is a ton of information provided and presented throughout the story, there were only a few instances when it felt overwhelming, but that feeling also seemed to mirror the protagonist’s emotions of the time, which added more impact to the story. Aponi’s desperate search and effort to belong to something, a feeling denied her as a foster child will resonate with readers, and the true emotional ups and downs will keep you turning pages hoping for her happy ending.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of honest review for Full Moon Bites tours. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I'll be honest. I didn't know how to classify Natasha Deen's True Grime2: Angel Maker. I started reading it and said, "Science Fiction." Then I read more and said, "Paranormal." Then "Action". "Then Science Fiction/Paranormal." In the end, it's a whole new genre I think.I'm not a big science fiction fan, but lately I've found some that have been very entertaining. Natasha Deen's book has been that and more. She has woven a tale that is so interesting that you have to keep reading to know what is going on.I have to admit that it could be confusing at times with all the different creatures, weapons, and techy stuff. That is the reason I don't generally like science fiction. I would have to read sections over again to fully understand it. But once I did, everything began to fall into place.Ms. Deen's characters are wonderful and full of unique characteristics that have you visualizing them so well. The plot is well done and keeps you entertained. Overall, a great read by a talented author.I'm still trying to figure out how she kept all the names and stuff straight. Geez!If you like science fiction, check this book out. If you like paranormal, check it out even if you aren't a science fiction fan. I enjoyed it. You might be surprised at how well you will.Note: This book was provided as part of a book tour with no expectation of a positive review.
