About this ebook
Twelve-year-old Abigale Fontenot is struggling to figure out whether her adventures are real or imagined. After an adventure with Amazonian women in book one, Abigale and Emmett have formed a bond through mutual trust and secrets, but Kristy has turned against Abigale because of it. Now, Abigale again finds herself in a precarious situation with a city full of talking cats. Emmett is once more by her side as she faces down a vicious cat queen in an attempt to avoid certain death and restore the leadership of the city to its rightful owner. Will they succeed, or will they be roasted alive? What will happen when Kristy overhears the discussions about the adventures with Ada?

Jo Michaels loves writing novels that make readers gasp in horror, surprise, and disbelief. While her browser search history has probably landed her on a list somewhere, she still dives into every plot with gusto, hoping "the man" will realize she's a writer and not a psychopath about to go on a rampage. Her favorite pastimes are reading, watching Investigation Discovery, and helping other authors realize their true potential through mentoring. She's penned the award-winning Pen Pals and Serial Killers series and the best-selling educational book for children, Writing Prompts for Kids, which has rocketed the kids that use it into several awards of their own. Most of Jo's books feature the places she's lived: Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia. That's given her a special amount of insight to what makes those locations tick. Her works are immersive and twisty, and she wouldn't want it any other way.

Chapter 1 – Abigale
Abigale Fontenot knew she was an extraordinary girl. What she didn’t know was if her adventure with her neighbor, Emmett, was real, or if it was a dream. It had seemed dangerous and they both recalled the same things, but if it was really a dream then they were in no real danger. If it wasn’t a dream…
Could two people dream the same thing at the same time?
Over the next few months, Abigale and Emmett spent a lot of time together talking about the Amazonian women and hashing through the details, trying to make sense of it all. They had no idea why the adventure had taken place and were beginning to doubt that it would ever happen again.
Ada, the strange old woman who lived at the end of Abigale’s road, had been helping the two try and understand what was going on. Ada wasn’t much help because she spoke in riddles that the kids just couldn’t figure out the answers to; though they talked them to death.
Ada told them, You must be careful what you surround yourself with because whatever you absorb could cause another incident.
It made no sense, because neither Abigale nor Emmett could understand what absorb meant. That statement had caused Emmett to run around for three weeks with a tin foil hat on his head and heavy work gloves on his hands. Abigale finally convinced him he was not only being silly, but was also acting like a crazy person, and he finally stopped wearing the ridiculous looking attire.
Ada was a traiteur – a Cajun faith healer – who had also travelled when she was younger but who couldn’t answer the question that plagued all their minds: were they really leaving or were they dreaming? She didn’t seem
